Upon enrolment, a new recruit in the Army Cadet Program starts off with the rank of “Cadet” (abbreviated as Cdt).
Appointments (or promotions) to a higher rank occurs after the cadet has met certain prescribed standards. The specific criteria for all ranks is in place to ensure that every cadet is given the same opportunity to advance, provided that they have completed the necessary training, obtained the skills or qualifications needed to be promoted, and that there is a job for that individual at the desired rank.
All promotions are at the discretion of the Commanding Officer, and subject to his/her approval. If you're wondering what criteria must be met to obtain a promotion, please review the documents below.
